Eastern Counties 5 - Oxfordshire 60
Eastern Counties had just 8 days to put their side together to face a well drilled Oxfordshire side that has been together for 3 years. Eastern Counties played the whole 80 minutes with enthusiasm, passion and no short measure of commitment. For 50 minutes of the game their was very little between the sides, the half time whistle blew with EC 0-17 down and all still to play for. The second half saw Oxfordshire use their high number of reserve players very effectively and slowly wore the EC Ladies down with some well worked passages of play. EC scored a fantastic team try in the second half showing exactly the potential within the side.
Overall a really good effort from the hastily assembled ECRU women's team despite the score line. Lots of positives to take away but plenty for the coaches to work on before next Sunday's game against Hertfordshire.
