As they take on Notts, Lincs and Derby this Sunday
EC Women’s began their campaign in the Gill Burns Division 2 Championship (Pool 2) with an away game at Herfordshire last Saturday, EC were overpowered in that game by a strong and very well organised Herfordshire team and were on the wrong end of a 20-7 game, which saw their hosts score 4 tries to 1, captain Lizell Heather (Thurrock) scoring the sole try for Eastern Counties with a solo effort from 40m out. Their next pool game is against Notts, Lincs and Derby (NLD), which is also away and will be played this coming Sunday at Newark RFC, NG24 1WN kick off 3pm.
The management team and squad is determined to bounce back with a win this weekend as a loss would almost certainly prevent them from progressing to the knock out stages of the competition, which saw them make the finals last season.
EC Women’s last pool game is against Oxfordshire and will be played at home at Stowmarket RFC on Sunday 12th May, kick off 2pm.
