Eastern Counties Rugby Union

Ian Whitby has been announced as the ECRU U18s Girls manager for the 2021-22 season. Ian is taking over the reigns from Darren Wright who has successfully managed and steered the CB’s U18s and U15s girls programmes for last 8 years.
Ian brings with him a wealth of experience as a Team Manager, firstly working with Cambridge Rugby Club looking after the 2 senior men’s teams for what is now his 9th season at the Club and who also managed the Eastern Counties Wanderers last season and will be managing the ECRU 1XV this coming season. In addition we are pleased to announce that Daniel Baker will also be joining the management team as the ECRU U18s Girls assistance manager, Daniel captained and help coach at Lakenham Hewett and currently is coaching the Lakenham Hewett Ladies side.
ECRU Director of Rep Rugby Chris Capps-Jenner said: “Firstly I would like to thank Darren Wright for all his hard work and dedication running the Representative Girls programmes in the CB over the past 8 years, with Darren leaving the position we were faced with the task of finding someone who could fill some very big shoes. I believe Ian is the person to lead the Girls representative programme. We are very fortunate to have volunteers of Ian and Daniels calibre in our CB”
