To raise funds for the Wooden Spoon Charity
Aaron is taking part in a charity bike ride from London to Paris later this month, he's part of a 44 strong Rugbytots team aiming to raise £150,000 for the Wooden Spoon Charity. Aaron's personal target is £2,500. Why not help him reach that target by donating a little, all of which will go to charity.
Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby, funding life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland to support children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage. Research shows that 1 in 10 children in the UK and Ireland have a disability and there are 3.5 million children in the UK living in poverty. These numbers continue to rise, and more and more children need our help. Our vision is that through the power of rugby, every child and young person has access to the same opportunities.
Aaron played from the age of 10 years old until a couple of years ago, so rugby has been a part of his life. Aaron feels fortunate to have been involved in the sport which has taught him so much in life, to which he is certain that without rugby he wouldn't be in the position and who he is today.
Rugby is not just about the tackling, kicking, passing, scoring and all other areas of the game on the pitch. The word "Rugby" has a bigger meaning. It brings respect, friendship, relationships, core values, things that Aaron will cherish for a life time. The rugby community is like no other, it is like a second family.
As well as Aaron’s senior coaching commitments, Aaron is the owner and coach of Rugbytots Norfolk, coaching 2 to 7 year olds throughout the county, which is proving to be a great feeder of young talent to clubs across the counties. As well as coaching those that attend these classes, Aaron wants to give something back to those unable to get involved. He is trying to raise as much money as possible for the great charity the Wooden Spoon, ensuring that others benefit from the great game of rugby.
So, along with other Rugbytots coaches and owners from all over the country, Aaron will be cycling from London to Paris on the 28th June. It’s going to be a challenge, but he will be raising money for this great cause.
