How the RFU has invested in my development as a CB volunteer
I have recently been fortunate enough to attend and complete the RFU Leadership in Union course. It is worth noting that the RFU is the only national sporting body that is currently investing in volunteer development in this way.
This is part of a long-term Volunteer Development Pathway Model that the RFU has established to identify the individuals with potential and drive to take on senior leadership roles within the CB. The course has been specially designed and is delivered by Ashridge Executive Education and there is no doubt the course will challenge you and take you out of your comfort zone.
In committing to the course, I found it an extremely positive and beneficial process, it has identified and honed the skills I already had and added some new skills and tools that I can use going forward for the benefit of the CB. The goal of the course was to impart the delegates with new and improved skills to lead, and it has done exactly that for me and my role. I have already taken on new challenges to support the CB team using what I learned on the course. In addition, I am now part of a network of similar minded people who have already and will continue to work as a team to support what each other deliver on various initiatives in our respective areas.
If you have an aspiration and the drive to undertake a senior leadership role, are prepared to take on the responsibility associated with the running of a CB, have ideas on how to improve the running of the CB and can commit the time to complete the programme then this is the course for you.
The deadline to apply is fast approaching, 31st May 2017, so if you want more details you can find these attached and if you have any questions just let me know.
