Eastern Counties Rugby Union

Freya Burt (16) and Anna Goddard (16) have both attended trials and have been awarded rugby scholarships which run alongside their A level studies at 2 colleges that offer the Girls Rugby AASE programme. There are only 8 colleges in the country that offer this scholarship and only 10 places at each college are available.

From September 2014, Freya (Prop, Utility forward) will attend Brockenhurst College in the New Forest, and Anna (scrum Half) will attend Hartpury College in Gloucester.

They will both undertake a daily programme to include strength and conditioning sessions, positional skills, match play, team practice and one to one analysis. They will attend RFU development days, where all players from the 8 colleges will come together at a central venue for coaching by RFU and England coaches. They will both play in the AASE college league for their respective colleges.

Both Freya and Anna have played rugby since they were young, both coming up through the minis and then through the girls section at Newmarket Rugby Club. The have both also played for Eastern Counties U15 girls and currently U18 girls.
