Woodbridge 25 Students/Exiles 5
The rugby was played over 4 quarters of 15 mins. A really close game until the final quarter when Woodbridge ran in a couple of late tries and added a cheeky drop goal. Both sides didn't have the abundance of subs that we have seen in previous years with roughly 3 for each team, but this perhaps made for a better contest with more continuity.
Student captain Henry Rose (Cambridge University) had again done a sterling job in assembling on paper the stronger squad, (selflessly trawling the bars of Woodbridge) but the home team had several of the Senior Colts playing and, having now witnessed a home victory for the past few years, you suspect the balance will finally swing the other way when this generation ‘swop shirts’ next year and appear for the visitors…?
The game was as ever, well attended and remains a popular social fixture in the Woodbridge RFC calendar for all the senior age-groups. On behalf of both Henry and Jamie smith, the home team skipper, we would like to thank ECRFU for their continued support in what is a welcome initiative.
